Enforcement team books erring traders in Chowki Choura

Jammu : Sub Divisional Administration Chowki Choura, with support from the Food Supply & Consumer Affairs Department, Legal Metrology, Food Safety and Police Department, conducted a market checking drive on Saturday.
A wide range of shops—including sweet shops, dhabas, vegetable vendors, and stockists—were inspected. Multiple establishments were booked for violations such as use of unverified weighing scales, improper food storage, and non-compliance with food safety standards.
Total 11 establishments were challaned and booked under different sections of relevant act for non-conformity to rules.
Expired items and rotten vegetables /fruits were destroyed on spot.
The market checking team was led by SDM Chouki choura, Ankush Hans and AD Rural, Haroon Naik which includes Tehsildar CC, FSO, Inspector legal Metrology and police.
The administration remains committed to protecting consumer rights and public health. Regular checks will continue, and strict action will be taken against violators.
