DC calls for strengthening agricultural services at grassroots level

Doda: To enhance grassroots agricultural services, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Harvinder Singh on Thursday convened a comprehensive review meeting to assess the functioning of Kisan Khidmat Ghars (KKGs) in the district. The meeting, held in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, focused on evaluating service delivery, inter-departmental coordination, and infrastructure development of KKGs.
The session was attended by key officials including the Project Officer ICDS, who also serves as GM District Industries Centre Doda S. Parmjeet Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer (Nodal Officer KKGs) Amjad Hussain Malik, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, District Sericulture Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Assistant Directors of Fisheries and Floriculture, District Lead Bank Manager, AD Planning, NABARD Manager, Incharge KKGs from all blocks, and Krishi Udymi representatives.
During the meeting, the DC emphasized the need to strengthen service delivery in remote areas, ensure timely dissemination of agricultural schemes, facilitate access to KCC loans, crop insurance and agricultural subsidies. He stressed the importance of real-time monitoring, digital record maintenance, and provisioning of IT equipment to improve efficiency at KKGs. The Chief Agriculture Officer presented a detailed overview of the KKG setup status. DC Doda also reviewed issues and grievances raised by the Krishi udayamis during the meeting during the meeting such as infrastructure gaps, registration of farmers under HADP, issuance of fertilizers and pesticides licenses, availability of fertilizers, and the need for Aadhaar centres, commission on sale of seeds, and provision of electronic gadgets. and assured to resolved the issue and grievances in stipulated time
The DDC interacted directly with Krishi Udymi and KKG Incharges, listened to their concerns, and assured timely redressal of issues. He directed the officers to expedite the issuance of fertilizer licenses, ensure training for Krishi Udymis across all 17 blocks, and improve coordination among agriculture and allied departments. He also emphasized raising awareness through IEC campaigns and ensuring that KKGs function as single-window service centres for farmers. He instructed concerned departments to ensure timely dispatch of necessary equipment for KKG setup and provide essential agricultural goods to Krishi Udymis.
Further, the DC instructed that committees be formed under designated chairpersons for better monitoring of KKG operations and Krishi Udymis. He also called for better coordination with NABARD to ensure financial support. The proposal to establish Aadhaar centres in KKGs was discussed, and the DC assured steps will be taken for their establishment. He also suggested that the NIC team be deployed at KKGs to facilitate video conferencing and the smooth functioning of digital services. Concluding the meeting, the DC called upon all agricultural stakeholders to work collectively for the development of the country, emphasizing that agriculture is the backbone of India’s economy.
