Islamic Studies Deptt Shopian Holds Thee Event On Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

Srinagar: Department of Islamic Studies GDC Shopian, headed by Dr. Zaira Ashraf Khan, organised a 3 Day Event on the Theme “Prophet Muhammad (SAW) – The Ultimate Role Model”on 19th of May 2025. This event was organised under the Stewardship of Head of the institute Prof.Muhammad Shafiq . .This event was divided into 3 broad segments.
The First Segment ( Day 1 of the event) was about delving deep into the various aspects of Prophetic Character. Students presented their research papers on various aspects of life and Character of Prophet Muhammad ( Peace be upon Him). The themes discussed ranged from he being an honourable person, Novel in character and Honest in approach. His daily Life schedule.His love for his people, children and old alike. His behaviour towards women and the empowerment he bought in their lives.
This was followed by a Penal Discussion on ” Prophet Muhammad ( SAW) as a teacher” , wherein the Expert Speakers spoke about his Teaching Methodology .The experts included Prof. Firdous Nazir ( Department of Arabic), Prof. Muhammad Ishaq( Department of English), Dr. Akhtar Ul Islam ( Department of Arabic) , Dr. Majid ul Islam ( Department of Islamic Studies).
They spoke in detail about the various teaching methodologies adopted in the Prophetic Model which includes Being Gentle, Patient ,responsive , inciting Curiosity through Questions, Involving students in Sports and equal opportunities of learning for both the genders. The Second Segment ( Day 2 of the event) – Dated 20th May , comprised of the Practical demonstration of the Prophetic Sunnah . The Department in collaboration with NSS team organised a Cleanliness and Plantation drive along with display of Islamic Art presented by the Participants .This event aimed at sensitising the College Students about the importance of Purity in Islam as narrated in a Prophetic Hadith that Purity is the essential part of Faith. The Third and Last Segment ( Day 3 of the event) – Dated 21st May 2025 , was a visit to nearby orphanage. The 30 Students from the Department along with the Faculty members Dr.Zaira Ashraf Khan and Dr. Majid ul Islam visited Palaash , Home of 55 orphans at Pinjoora Shopian. Our students interacted with the faculty there and showered love at the children , Played with them and cheered them up with eatables and Home prepared healthy food. The over all experience was beyond description. This event rejuvenated the spirits of students and made them aware of their responsibilities towards their Society .
