Islamabad/London: UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who was visiting Islamabad, has said the ceasefire between Pakistan and India must continue and that conflict in the region is not in anyone’s interest.
His statement came at the conclusion of his official visit to Pakistan, during which he met with the Pakistani leadership and discussed a range of regional and bilateral issues.
In a video message on X, Lammy stated, “The ceasefire between Pakistan and India must continue. Conflict in the region is not in anyone’s best interest.”
“Important visit to Pakistan following the hugely welcome ceasefire with India.
“Because of the deep links between our countries, the UK is determined to play our part with India, Pakistan and international partners to help counter terrorism and ensure this peace lasts.”
He added that this was a message directed not only at Pakistan and India, but also at the wider international community.
Lammy is also quoted as saying that the UK is working with the US to ensure the ceasefire between the two nations endures and that “confidence-building measures” and dialogue take place.
