Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Budgam and Sopore and recovered significant quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police team from Police Post Soibugh at a checkpoint established near Soibugh Diyar Bridge, intercepted two suspects identified as Mohd Imran Khan S/o Abdul Rahman Khan and Waris Rashid Dar S/o Abdul Rashid Dar, both residents of Narkara, Budgam who tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully. Police in its statement also said that during search heroin-like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 108/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation is underway Police in its statement further said that in a similar action in Sopore, Police Station Dangiwacha apprehended a drug peddler identified as Mohammad Iqbal Dar S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Dar R/o Drusoo Khalisa Rafiabad, in connection with FIR No. 22/2025 under sections 8/22 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
Police in its statement furthermore said that earlier investigations had led to the seizure of 496 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus, adding therein that further investigation and sustained efforts resulted in the recovery of some additional capsules. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police in its statement reiterated its commitment to eradicate drug menace from the society and safeguarding the lives of the youth and appealed people to continue supporting it by reporting drug-related activities in their localities.
