Rajouri: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday expressed deep shock and grief over the killing of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Rajouri, Raj Kumar Thappa, who lost his life after a Pakistani shell hit his residence in Rajouri town.

Taking to social media platform X, CM Omar as per news agency JKNS wrote, “Devastating news from Rajouri. We have lost a dedicated officer of the J&K Administration Services. Just yesterday he was accompanying the Deputy CM around the district & attended the online meeting I chaired.”

“Today the residence of the officer was hit by Pak shelling as they targeted Rajouri town killing our Additional District Development Commissioner Sh Raj Kumar Thappa. I’ve no words to express my shock & sadness at this terrible loss of life. May his soul rest in peace,” he added.

The tragic incident occurred amid intensified shelling from across the border, with civilian areas coming under direct fire in parts of Rajouri.

Official sources told JKNS that Thappa had been actively engaged in ground assessments alongside top officials just a day prior and had participated in multiple review meetings.

His sudden death has sent shockwaves through the administrative ranks and among locals, with tributes pouring in for his service and dedication. (JKNS)
