Ramban: The Cooperative Mini-Super Bazar M-PACS Maitra, established by the Cooperative Department, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, with a project cost of Rs. 95.42 lakh, was inaugurated here on Thursday for public service.
The state-of-the-art retail facility was jointly inaugurated by Chairperson, District Development Council Dr. Shamshad Shan and local Member Legislative Assembly Arjun Singh Raju. The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary; Senior Superintendent of Police, Kulbir Singh; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Varunjeet Singh Charak; Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Societies, Priyanka Sharma; along with prominent citizens, officers from various departments, and officials of the Cooperative Department.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairperson emphasized the significance of strengthening grassroots-level cooperative institutions to boost the local economy and create self-sustaining employment avenues. She lauded the department’s efforts in executing the project efficiently and hoped that the Mini-Super Bazar would meet the essential commodity needs of the public at fair prices.
The MLA congratulated the Cooperative Department and the district administration for completing this public-centric initiative. He stressed the importance of such cooperative ventures in enhancing market access for local producers and generating economic opportunities in rural and semi-urban areas.
The Deputy Commissioner advised the Cooperative Department and the managing staff to ensure quality services, transparency and people-friendly practices. He highlighted the potential of the Mini-Super Bazar to serve as a model for similar projects in other parts of the district. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to empowering cooperative institutions for inclusive development.
Earlier, the Deputy Registrar gave a detailed briefing of Cooperative Mini Super Bazar. She emphasized that Cooperative Mini super Bazar would also cater to the market needs of the farmers associated with production of organic products by giving them a platform to sell their produce to the customers. The Mini Super Bazar houses a special organic and local produce section for that purpose, so that the local farmers of the area can sell their produce at competitive prices instead of falling prey to distress selling at low prices. The project also offers good potential for employment generation for the youth of the area and can go a long way in enhancing the financial prospects of the society.
The newly inaugurated Mini-Super Bazar is expected to cater to a wide range of consumer needs, promoting fair trade practices, providing market linkage to local products and boosting cooperative-led retail in the region.
