Srinagar: The Group of Concerned Citizens(GCC) J&K has condemned the “rape and murder” of a tribal lady in Nishat (Srinagar) describing it ” a grievous wound on the conscience of our society”.
The Group has appreciated the swift action by Police in apprehending the accused and urged ” fast-track investigation and trial to secure justice to the victim and the family while handing down severest punishment to the perpetrators, unleashing a deterrence effect that it must”.
In a statement issued here today, the GCC said ” it is our collective responsibility to address the causes at the root of rising crime against women” and made a spirited plea that “communities come together to help further a culture where women are respected, protected and empowered. ”
