Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has seized 6 tippers and sezed a JCB in Awantipora for being used in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting tough against the unlawfuls involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, a Police party of Police Station Pampore under the supervision of SDPO Pampore, seized 6 tippers bearing registration nos JK04B-0511, JK16-4199, JK13A-5299, JK01P-3017, JKOIL-9127, JK13B-7470 and one JCB without number plate.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Pampore besides initiating further investigation Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to take action against violators who are taking undue advantage of night hours by extracting minerals illegally to the detriment of people health, the ecology and the revenue of the government. Police in its statement also appealed people to come forward with any information regarding illegal mineral-related activities in their neighbourhood.
