Srinagar : Police in Handwara on Thursday organized Thana Diwas/Lok Darbar across all police establishments as part of its ongoing public outreach initiative. The program aimed to raise awareness and facilitate discussions on the newly introduced criminal laws, with special emphasis on their victim-centric and citizen-centric provisions.
The event witnessed active participation from a cross-section of the community, including religious leaders, local representatives, senior citizens, Masjid Imams, Nambardars, and other prominent figures.
During the session, police officers highlighted key aspects of the new criminal legislation, underlining how the changes prioritize justice for victims, protect citizens’ rights, and promote a more transparent and efficient legal process. Officers also urged the public to familiarize themselves with the new laws and assured them of the department’s commitment to fair implementation of new laws aimed at the welfare of public.
