Drug peddler arrested in Awantipora, Contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Awantipora at a checkpoint established at Padgampora Crossing, intercepted a suspect identified as Nazim Ahmad Mir S/o Ab Hamid Mir R/o Kawani and during search recovered 120 gms of Charas like substance (in shape of Sticks) wrapped in maize husk from the possession of the said accused who was arrested. Stating that a case under FIR No.100/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora besides initiating further investigation into the case Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112 and cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
