Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
According to statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar police said that a Police team of Police Station Pattan headed by SHO Police Station Pattan at a checkpoint established at Kalsari near Grid Station Pattan, intercepted a suspect identified as Jahangir Ahmad Wani S/o Ghulam Mohammad Wani R/o Kharnipora Tangmarg and during search recovered 7 Sticks (194 grams) wrapped in maize cortex contraband Charas like substance from his possession.
Stating that the said accused was arrested and a case under FIR No. 78/2025 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act was subsequently registered at Police Station Pattan besides initiating further investigation Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
