Srinagar : To educate students about their legal rights and the various welfare schemes available to them and their families, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar, organised an awareness programme on free legal aid and social welfare schemes at Government Girls High School (GGHS), Chanapora.
The event was held under the guidance of Shazia Tabassum, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority and under the Supervision of Tasleem Arief, Chairman DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Srinagar, and Sajad Ur Rehman, Sub-judge/ Secretary DLSA Srinagar.
Para Legal Volunteer, Saima, who served as the resource person for the programme sensitized students about the importance of free legal aid, how to access it, and the broader role of the DLSA in ensuring justice for all, especially for the marginalized sections of society.
She also highlighted key social welfare schemes that could significantly benefit students and their communities, encouraging them to spread awareness within their families and neighbourhoods.
The main objective of the awareness programme was to empower young minds with knowledge about the availability of free legal services and to instill in them an understanding of the various government welfare initiatives aimed at promoting social justice and inclusivity.
The programme was well-received by the students, who participated enthusiastically and expressed their eagerness to contribute to building a more informed and just society.
