Srinagar : Police in Baramulla in its continuous efforts to educate the public on Saturday organized an awareness programme on New Criminal Laws at Madrassa Houzia Alimiya Imam Hadi (A.S) in Noorkha Bijhama.
The event was chaired by SHO PS Bijhama and attended by members of civil society, staff and students of said Madrasa. The program aimed to familiarize attendees with key amendments and their implications in the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and the Indian Evidence Act.
The speakers at the event explained key aspects of the new criminal laws with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) respectively. They emphasized that these laws aim to ensure speedy justice for victims and swift punishment for offenders, with specific time frames set for case investigations.
