Srinagar : Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology of Kashmir starts two weeks foundation programme Deeksharambh with a theme ‘unleash your talent: Discover a world beyond Academics’ today on 25-04-2025 where all the first year students are helped to understand the ecosystem of the university. The event also helps the students in grooming them to become a responsible citizen. The event was graced by Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganie, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K as Chief Guest and Prof. Neelofer Khan, Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir as guest of honour.
According to a statement issued from public relations office SKUAST-K here Prof. S. A Gangoo, Dean Students Welfare welcomed the guests & the participants along with performers. He congratulated all the participants for being part of Foundation programme DEEKSHARAMB IRTIQA. He highlighted that SKUAST-K was the first agricultural university at the national level to have conceptualized and organized such a programme for the undergraduate students of the university. The popularity of the IRTIQA programme of SKUAST-K created a ripple effect prompting UGC to institutionalize Deeksharambh programme as the part of course curriculum.
Prof. Neelofer Khan congratulated the organizers of the event and appreciated the efforts of the organizers in making this foundation programme a reality. She stressed that the foundation programme can help the student community to establish the bondage with the faculties of other stations and work towards solving the issues in multidisciplinary approach.
Prof. N. A. Ganai motivated the participants by highlighting the importance of the co-curricular activities in the overall development of an individual. He also appreciated the efforts of the students in bringing laurels to the university. He also gave an insight into the sustainable model that SKUAST-K has developed to imbibe innovation and entrepreneurship among the students of SKUAST-K. He mentioned that the steps introduced at SKUAST-Kashmir in increasing the foothold of the agriculture and allied sections in the economy. He stressed that such innovative approaches can help to prepare the students for future events. He mentioned that SKUAST-K has extended the mandate to innovation and entrepreneurship with the focus of making the students entrepreneurs and agripreneurs. He did pay respects to the victims of Pahalgam incident and condemned such a barbaric act.
The programme started with the march-past parade by students of different faculties was organized highlighting the discipline needs to be part and ethos of the student community. The dignitaries inaugurated the e-cycle initiative at SKUAST-Kashmir Shalimar campus. The students presented a cultural programme highlighting the importance of unity and diversity to evade the challenges plaguing the society. This cultural programme was prepared to express the solidarity with the victims of the Pahalgam incident. A two-minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect in solidarity with the martyrs of Pahalgam incident.
The function was attended by Directors, Registrar, Deans, Associate Deans, Student Welfare Officers, HoDs and other staff of the University along with all the students of SKUAST-K.
Director Education, Prof. Mohd. Altaf Bhat presented the formal vote of thanks and emphasized that the event will be beneficial for the student community.
