3 drug peddlers arrested, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Srinagar, Anantnag and Budgam districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Srinagar, a police team of Police Post Urdu Bazar headed by Incharge Police Post Urdu Bazar at a checkpoint established at Bohri Kadal Srinagar intercepted a suspect identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar S/o Mohd Akbar Dar R/o Chek Charat Ram Kunzar A/P Bohri Kadal and during search recovered Charas like Contraband substance wrapped in maize peels weighing about 116 grams from the possession of the said accused.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action in Anantnag, a police team of Police Station Aishmuqam, at a checkpoint established at Ainoo crossing, intercepted and apprehended a suspect identified as Sabzar Ahmad Tantray, S/o Gh. Hassan R/o Ainoo Brai, Ashmuqam and during search recovered 318 grams of charas powder and 72 grams of charas-like substance from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that in Budgam also, a police team of Police Station Beerwah at a checkpoint established at village Aohangam-Rathsona road near Iron Bridge, intercepted a suspect identified as Faisal Ahmad Wani S/o Mashooq Ahmad Wani R/o Kanihama Magam who on seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, Police in its statement further said that during search charas like substance wrapped in corn husk, weighing about 116 grams was recovered from the possession of the said accused, Stating therein further that all the accused were arrested and cases under relevant sections of law were also registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs , reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
