Inter-School Chess, Carrom & Yoga competitions continue across B’la

Baramulla : Department of Youth Services and Sports, Baramulla, is continuously organizing inter-school chess and carrom competitions across various educational zones of the district.
As part of the series, Zone Baramulla Friday kick-started the Inter-School Chess Competition for Under-14 boys at Boys Higher Secondary School Baramulla. A total of 50 students from different schools of the zone took part in the event. The winners were awarded with certificates in recognition of their talent and performance.
Similarly, Zone Fatehgarh conducted an Inter-School Chess Competition for Under-14 boys, witnessing the participation of 60 students from various schools. The event aimed to promote strategic thinking and concentration among young learners.
Zone Dangiwacha successfully held Inter-School Chess Competitions for Under-14 and Under-17 girls. A total of 12 girls in the Under-14 category and 7 girls in the Under-17 category showcased their skills on the chessboard.
Zone Chandoosa also organized Inter-School Chess Competitions for Under-14 and Under-17 boys and girls. Around 45 students participated in the competitions, highlighting the enthusiasm of students for indoor mind sports.
On the second day of competitions, Zone Singpora Kalan hosted Chess Competitions for Under-14 and Under-17 girls at High School Singpora Kalan, providing a platform for young girls to explore and sharpen their intellectual abilities.
Zone Uri marked its second day with the successful organization of Inter-School Chess and Carrom Competitions for Under-14 girls at Boys Higher Secondary School Uri. The event witnessed active participation and encouraged sportsmanship among the young girls of the region.
Meanwhile, Zone Wagoora successfully concluded its Inter-School Chess Competitions for Under-14 and Under-17 boys and girls at High School Watergam. Winners were felicitated with certificates as a token of appreciation and encouragement.
Zone Sopore also joined in by organizing Inter-School Yoga Competitions for Under-14 and Under-17 girls on its second day. The event was held at Subhana Stadium Sopore with the participation of 60 girls. Medals were awarded to the top three position holders in each category, acknowledging their excellence and discipline in the art of yoga.
Furthermore, Zone Tangmarg continues to promote student engagement through various intramural sports activities conducted in different schools of the zone.
Speaking on the sidelines of the ongoing competitions, DYSSO Baramulla emphasized the importance of such activities in the overall personality development of students and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to providing opportunities for every student to participate and excel in sports.
