4 drug peddlers arrested in B’la & Srinagar, Contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla & Srinagar and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Sheeri at a checkpoint established at Forest checkpost NHW Gantamulla Payeen, intercepted one identified as Usama bin Ramzan S/o Mohd Ramzan Lone R/o Fatehgarh and during search, 50 grams of contraband Charas like substance was recovered from his possession.
Stating that in a similar action a Police party of Police Station Baramulla headed by SHO Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Kralhar, intercepted Two-wheeler Scooty bearing registration no JK05M-6980 and during search recovered 30 grams of Heroin-like substances from scooty rider Police in its statement further said that the said accused was identified as Bashir Ahmad Bhat S/o Haji Ghulam Qadir Bhat R/o Umar Colony Ushkara Baramulla.
Police in its statement further said thar a Police party of Police Post Palhallan, responded to an accident involving a Xylo vehicle bearing registration no UK07AQ-3700 while moving from Srinagar to Baramulla, met with an accident near Sadderbal, in the vicinity of MM Hospital, Stating therein further that the said vehicle was being driven by Amir Khan S/o Mehboob Khan R/o Bagatpora, Handwara who got injured in the accident and was subsequently shifted to hospital, adding therein that the possession of the said accused.
Stating that in a similar action in Srinagar also a Police party of Police Station while performing duties at Bemina Chowk found a suspect identified as Manzoor Ahmad Dar S/o Mohd Sultan Dar R/o Chandil Wanigam Tangmarg who was asked to stop but despite trying to flee from the spot was apprehended tactfully, Police in its statement further said that during search, cash amount of Rs. 19600/- one mobile phone and substantial quantity of charas like substance were recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Police in its statement further said that all the said accused were arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody , adding therein that the vehicles used in the commission of crimes were also seized, Stating therein further that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
