LG, CM greet people on Baisakhi

Jammu: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in their separate greeting messages on Saturday greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi, which will be celebrated today on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
In his message of greeting the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said: “On the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi, I convey my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all. It is a pious occasion to express our deep gratitude to ‘Annadata’ farmers and honour their invaluable contribution to the progress of the nation. Baisakhi holds profound historical and spiritual significance, marking the foundation of the Khalsa Panth by the tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji. On this sacred day, let us resolve to uphold the principles of selfless service, righteousness, courage, unity, equality and devotion exemplified by Guru Gobind Singh Ji.May Baisakhi this year usher in peace, prosperity and happiness for all”.
In his message of greetings Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that Baisakhi, which marks the beginning of the New Year in the Indian Calendar, holds special significance for the people of northern India.
Highlighting its cultural and agrarian importance, the Chief Minister noted that in the northern states, Baisakhi marks the commencement of the harvesting season, a time when farmers reap the fruits of their year-long hard work.
“Baisakhi symbolises the harvesting of hard labour and the spirit of celebrating it with harmony and brotherhood, adding vibrant colours to the festivity,” he said.
The Chief Minister further observed that festivals like Baisakhi strengthen the bonds of love among people and promote amity and harmony in society.
On this joyous occasion, Omar Abdullah prayed for peace, prosperity and the overall well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
