Srinagar : Police on Friday arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Frisal at a checkpoint established at Gundchahal Crossing, Shirpora intercepted a suspect identified as Bilal Ahmad Lone S/o Ghulam Hassan Lone R/o Khee Jogipora and during search recovered 4.6Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 28/2025 U/S 8/15 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Yaripora Besides initiating futher investigations Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling/anti-social activity in their vicinity and extend their cooperation to law enforcing authorities to eradicate the drug menace from the society as drugs are consuming the precious lives and career of our young generation.
