Rajouri: In a significant initiative aimed at addressing the concerns of the nomadic population, Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma on Wednesday convened a one-day Special Outreach Camp here at Village Palwara-Daryal in Block Budhal Old.
The outreach programme primarily focused on understanding and redressing the issues faced by the nomadic population during their seasonal migration.
The DC inspected stalls set up by Health, Sheep Husbandry, Labour and Animal Husbandry Departments, besides Self Help Groups. He interacted with members of the nomadic community and encouraged them to avail government schemes.
A wide range of grievances were raised by the members of the community, seeking road connectivity from Gala to Talyani, electricity connections, establishment of camping stations en-route to Kashmir, proper functioning of tribal schools, release of pending MGNREGA payments, renovation of school buildings, road to Danna Top, posting of mobile school teachers, provision of passenger sheds, tents and solar lights, and waiver of electricity charges during migration.
DC Abhishek Sharma gave a patient hearing to all the issues and redressed several grievances on the spot, much to the satisfaction of the nomadic people. The community expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner for organizing the special camp and bringing the administration to their doorstep.
In a significant move, the DC directed the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) to receive applications regarding the stoppage of electricity bills during the migration period and take appropriate action. He also instructed the Chief Education Officer (CEO) to visit the mobile school in the area and submit a factual report on its functioning.
The camp marked a proactive step towards inclusive governance and reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to the welfare and development of the nomadic and tribal communities of the District.
ADDC Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa; ADC Kotranka Dil Mir; ACP Sheraz Chouhan; CPO, Maqsood Ahmed; DSEO Sandeep Sharma; Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, CAHO, CAO, Tehsildar, BDOs, and other district officers also participated in the outreach camp.
