Kishtwar : The District Youth Services and Sports Department on Monday organized a series of intramural sports competitions and anti-drug awareness rallies across various educational institutions and zones of the district here under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
In a spirited initiative to promote physical fitness and encourage sporting talent among youth, intramural competitions were conducted in the disciplines of Table Tennis, Yoga, Kho-Kho, Chess, and Carrom (Boys & Girls) under the leadership of District Youth Services & Sports Officer Jaffer Haider Sheikh.
The events were held at GHSS Dool – Zone Nagseni, GHS Balgran – Zone Drabshalla, GHS Basmina – Zone Warwan, GMS Indra Nagar, and GMS Berwar.
These competitions witnessed enthusiastic participation and showcased the dedication of young athletes from across the district.
In a parallel effort to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse, the DYSS also organized impactful rallies as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan under the theme “No to Drugs, Yes to Life.”
The awareness drives were held at GHSS Sounder, GHSS Chattroo, GMS Sigdi, Pyt Laie and UPS Girls Razna Palmar.
Over 400 students, including 250 boys and 150 girls participated, carrying banners, raising slogans, and spreading messages of a drug-free and healthy lifestyle. The enthusiastic involvement of students, teachers, and local communities made the event a great success.
Meanwhile, for smooth implementation of the Sports Activity Calendar, DYSSO Jaffer Haider Sheikh chaired a meeting with all field officials, including Physical Education Masters (PEMs), Physical Education Teachers (PETs), Rehbar-e-Khel (REKs), and Sports Teachers. The meeting focused on strategic planning and monitoring of scheduled events for the current session, aiming to enhance participation and sports development at the grassroots level.
