Srinagar: Below is the weekly timeline of the key highlights of the weeklong activities of the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah witnessed within and outside Jammu & Kashmir:-
1. March,31:- LG ‘s Tributes To slain Soldiers In Kathua: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the families of the four brave security personnel—SgCT Balvinder Singh Chib, SgCT Jaswant Singh, HC Jagbir Singh, and SgCT Tariq Ahmed—who were martyred in a recent anti-terror operation in Kathua. Expressing deep sorrow, the LG saluted their supreme sacrifice and valor, assuring the bereaved families of full government support and assistance.
2. April , 1: LG’s Greetings On Utkala Dibasa: On Utkala Dibasa, LG Manoj Sinha extended greetings to the people of Odisha, celebrating the state’s cultural richness. He highlighted Odisha’s contribution to India’s vibrant tapestry through its literature, performing arts, and ancient heritage.
3. April , 1; CM Omar Flags Off Free Bus Service For Women: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah launched a Free Bus Service for women across Jammu and Kashmir. Starting April 1st, women can travel free of cost in all Smart City and SRTC buses. CM Omar termed it a landmark step toward women’s empowerment, accessible mobility, and inclusive governance.
4. April , 2:- LG’s Address At Sharda University Alumni Meet: LG Sinha attended the alumni meet of Sharda University held in Srinagar. He urged the youth to utilize the skills acquired during their academic journey to contribute to nation-building and serve the society meaningfully.
5. April , 2:- CM Omar Announcement For Free Food Grains for AAY Households: Fulfilling a key budget promise, CM Omar Abdullah announced free additional food grain distribution for Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) households. Each beneficiary family will now receive up to 10 kg of free food grains monthly under PDS, ensuring greater food security for the vulnerable sections.
6. April , 3:- LG’s Addresses At Bharat Shiksha Summit In Delhi: LG Manoj Sinha delivered the keynote address at the Bharat Shiksha Summit organized by Balaji Foundation at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. He emphasized the importance of deliberating over educational reforms, challenges, and opportunities to shape a forward-looking roadmap for Indian institutions.
7. April , 3:- CM Omar’s Orders On Enhancing Marriage Assistance For Vulnerable Girls: In a significant welfare move, CM Omar announced the enhancement of financial assistance under the State Marriage Assistance Scheme for girls from AAY families. The grant has been increased from ₹50,000 to ₹75,000, with direct bank transfers to be made before marriage, aiming to promote dignity and reduce economic stress on families.
8. April , 4:- CM Omar Launches Almond Blossom Festival 2025 in Srinagar: CM Omar Abdullah inaugurated the Almond Blossom Festival-2025 at Badamwaeri, Srinagar. The event celebrates the iconic bloom of almond orchards, welcoming spring in the Valley. The festival reflects the state government’s focus on eco-tourism and heritage-based cultural celebrations. April , 4:- CM Omar Enhances Social Pensions In J&K: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced a hike in pensions under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) and Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS). The enhanced monthly support will benefit the elderly, widows, specially-abled, and transgender citizens, reaffirming the government’s inclusive welfare agenda.
9. April , 4:- LG’s Tributes To Actor Manoj Kumar: LG Manoj Sinha paid heartfelt tribute to veteran actor Manoj Kumar, recognizing his indelible mark on Indian cinema. Lauding his patriotic roles and cinematic legacy, the LG extended condolences to the late actor’s family and admirers, calling him a symbol of larger-than-life storytelling.
