Jammu: Police in Jammu on Saturday said that in a significant stride under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Jammu Police organized a grand anti-drug rally spanning from Sikanderpur Kothey in Bishnah to Miralia in Miran Sahib, with participants pledging to stay away from drugs and extend full cooperation to police in curbing drug abuse.

The rally was spearheaded by SP Headquarters Jammu, Sh. Irshad Hussain Rather (JKPS). The initiative targeted known drug hotspots, delivering a powerful message against substance abuse directly from the ground.

The rally witnessed overwhelming participation from all walks of life, including senior citizens, women, and a large number of enthusiastic children. SDPO R.S. Pura Sh. Gurmeet Singh (JKPS), SHO Bishnah Sh. Sushil Choudhary, and SHO Miran Sahib Sh. Jaipaul Sharma, along with other officers from Headquarters Zone, also marched in solidarity with the community.

The march began at Sikanderpur Kothey, a location previously marked as a drug hotspot, and concluded at Miralia, Miran Sahib, after covering a distance of nearly 2 kilometers on foot. Throughout the rally, participants, especially children, raised impactful slogans like “Chitta Wale Murdabad, Chitta Wale Hi-Hi” while carrying placards and banners promoting a drug-free lifestyle.

During the event, all participants took a solemn anti-drug oath, committing themselves to never use drugs and to actively support law enforcement efforts against drug trafficking and addiction.

This campaign is part of a larger effort by Jammu Police under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, especially among the youth. The rally also served as a reminder of the community’s vital role in fighting the drug menace by fostering vigilance and education. Officials stated that this initiative will be taken forward in other drug-affected areas of the district as part of a sustained campaign to build a healthier, drug-free Jammu.
