Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar a police team of Police Station Srigufwara, at a checkpoint established at Chenar Crossing, Sirhama, intercepted a suspicious motorcyclist identified as Faizan Ahmad Bhat S/o Gh. Hassan Bhat R/o Marhama bearing registration no JK11C-0712 and during search recovered 300 grams of illicit cannabis powder, concealed under the seat of the motorcycle, Stating therein further that the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Stating that in a similar action a police team of Police Station Uttersoo at a checkpoint established at Padderpora, Chittergul intercepted a suspect identified as Gulzar Ahmad Hajam S/o Nund Hajam R/o Padderpora, Chittergul and during search recovered approximately 250 grams of charas powder concealed in a polythene bag from the possession of the said accused who was arrested Police in its statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to support its initiatives taken for rooting out the drug menace from the society, assuring therein strict action against offenders in accordance with the law.
