“The Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Jammu, has taken a commendable initiative by mobilizing its Cultural Unit to raise awareness about drug abuse.”

Drug abuse continues to pose a grave threat to the social and psychological fabric in Jammu & Kashmir and worst hit are the youth. It not only destroys individual lives but also weakens families, burdens public health systems, and fuels crime. In this battle against addiction, awareness is the first and most crucial step—and cultural engagement is emerging as a powerful weapon. Recognizing this, the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Jammu, has taken a commendable initiative by mobilizing its Cultural Unit to raise awareness about drug abuse. Through theme-based songs and performances, the Cultural Unit is bringing to light the harsh realities of addiction and its far-reaching impact on individuals and communities.  These artistic expressions go beyond statistics and warnings—they tell stories, evoke empathy, and prompt reflection, especially among younger audiences. The DIPR’s Cultural Awareness Programs under the banner of “Nasha Mukt Bharat” are more than just events; they are cultural interventions aimed at shifting mindsets.  With the support of district administrations and the supervision of dedicated officers, these programs amplify the anti-drug message in ways that resonate deeply with people. The significance of DIPR’s approach lies in its ability to communicate with both heart and mind. Where conventional methods may fail to engage or leave a lasting impression, cultural performances can plant the seed of change. Songs, plays, and spoken word performances delivered by the Cultural Unit powerfully portray how addiction devastates not just the addict, but the entire social structure around them.

“Curbing drug abuse is not just about stricter laws or better rehabilitation—it is about changing attitudes. The Cultural Unit of DIPR is playing a central role in this transformation by using art as a mirror to society and a guide to a healthier future. To build a truly drug-free India, such initiatives must be encouraged, expanded, and embraced across every corner of the country.”

Moreover, by involving artists, local leaders, and law enforcement officers, DIPR is promoting a united front against drug abuse—one that combines awareness, empathy, and action. Their presence reinforces the idea that this is not just a personal issue but a community-wide concern that requires collective vigilance and support. In a region where the youth face challenges and distractions, efforts like those of DIPR’s Cultural Unit are a beacon of hope. They offer positive engagement, emotional healing, and most importantly, an alternative narrative—one that celebrates life, creativity, and purpose over escapism and self-destruction. In conclusion, curbing drug abuse is not just about stricter laws or better rehabilitation—it is about changing attitudes. The Cultural Unit of DIPR is playing a central role in this transformation by using art as a mirror to society and a guide to a healthier future. To build a truly drug-free India, such initiatives must be encouraged, expanded, and embraced across every corner of the country.
