Jammu: Jammu Police on Saturday said that in a major crackdown on drug trafficking, a drug peddler was arrested, and 6.66 grams of heroin (Chitta)-like substance was also seized in the R.S. Pura area.
In a statement issued from the District Police Office, Jammu Police said that a team from Police Station R.S. Pura, led by SHO R.S. Pura and assisted by I/C BPP Chakrohi, was conducting routine patrolling when they intercepted a suspect. Upon search, the accused, identified as Jagdev Kumar alias Mittu, S/O Rattan Lal, R/O Kapoorpur, Tehsil Suchetgarh, District Jammu, was found in possession of the contraband. An FIR No. 57/2025 under Sections 8/20/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station R.S. Pura, and the accused has been taken into custody. Investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the drugs and any potential connections to a larger network.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to eradicate the drug menace and ensure a drug-free society. The Police in its statement also appealed people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking, emphasizing that public cooperation is vital in this fight against narcotics.
