Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat late on Friday evening sharing the details on Kathua gunfight said that till now four J&K cops have lost their lives and two terrorists have been eliminated, and the operation has not been called off.
“The operation will continue till all the terrorists are eliminated,” the DGP told reporters at Kathua.
The J&K Police chief said that on March 23, a couple informed the security forces of sighting Pakistanis in village Sanyal (Hiranagar) and immediately, a group of officers reached the spot.
“The security forces had a brief exchange of firing with the terrorists (Pakistanis), but they escaped leaving behind four magazines, three Improvised Explosive Devices and two grenades,” he said.
He further said that the entire area was put to a halt by different forces like BSF, Army, CRPF till this incident went on and this operation went on for four days.
“We got information about their whereabouts in the Rajbagh area and on Thursday morning, an encounter started with the Pakistanis, and two of them were killed on the spot,” he informed and said that it is tough terrain and taking advantage of height, they targeted four of our brave-hearts.”
“J&K Police is a strong force and our intention and mission are clear. We will not sleep till we stop such activities of our neighbour,” said DGP Prabhat, adding that the operation is still going on.
“Joint teams are working and we hope that everything will clear out by tomorrow,” he stated.
On the total number of terrorists killed, he informed that, “our mission today was to retrieve the bodies of our four martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. We have retrieved their bodies. Operation is on, things will become clear soon.”
