DC Poonch reviews arrangements for up-coming religious events

DC asks for adequate amenities for Shab-e-Qadr, Navratras, Eid ul Fitr, Baisakhi

Poonch: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal convened a meeting of officers from different departments, representatives of civil society, and religious leaders to review the preparations for the upcoming religious events including Shab-e-Qadar, Navratras, Eid ul Fitr and Baisakhi.
The meeting served as a platform for religious heads and prominent citizens to project essential requirements for each day. Discussions centered on enhanced sanitation measures, uninterrupted electricity supply, reliable drinking water access, security provisions, traffic management, sufficient stock of ration supplies, monitoring of food item prices and quality, as well as medical facilities and parking arrangements.
Specific concerns addressed during the meeting encompassed security in Mandir complexes during Navratra festivities, the decoration of local markets, provision of sufficient rations in remote areas on Eid and necessary medical support during the Nagar Kirtan scheduled for April 11th on Khalsa Sirjana Diwas.
The Deputy Commissioner urged all officers to adhere to past practices, while addressing the new demands raised by the community leaders. He emphasized the importance of monitoring food prices and quality during the festival season, and directed the Power Development Department (PDD) and Public Health Engineering (PHE) department to ensure adequate electricity and potable water supplies.
Additionally, the CA&FCS department was tasked with ensuring that essential commodities remain readily available.
The Municipal Committee was instructed to maintain sanitation standards around places of worship and public gatherings, alongside necessary lighting provisions.
The Additional Superintendent of Police assured of comprehensive security measures and commended the communal harmony evident in the district.
Towards the end of the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner called for close interdepartmental collaboration and emphasized the necessity of timely arrangements to ensure smooth festival celebrations.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Additional Superintendent of Police, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Medical Officer, Tehsildar Haveli, District Social Welfare Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Regional Transport Officer, Xen JAL Shakti, Xen JPDCL, EO Municipality and representatives from various departments including fire and emergency services, legal metrology officer and alongside religious leaders and prominent community members.
