Srinagar: Police have conducted a search at the house of Democratic Freedom Party member for association with a banned organization in Handwara sub district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Government of India had in October 20a3 declared ‘Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party’ (JKDFP) as an ‘Unlawful Association’ under Section 3(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) 1967.

Police said as part of continuing efforts to tighten the noose around anti-national elements, they conducted a search at the residence of a DFP member Farooq Ahmad Dar of Turpora, Handwara, for his association with a banned organization.

“Acting on reliable information, a police team raided the house of Farooq Ahmad Dar late last evening. The search was conducted in connection with the ongoing investigation in Case FIR No. 08/2024 of Police Station Handwara,” a police statement said.

“During the search, incriminating material was recovered, which has been seized and made part of the investigation. Further raids are expected as the investigation progresses,” it added.

Police said that it remains committed to maintaining peace and security in the region and will continue to take stringent action against elements involved in unlawful activities.
