Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament -2025 held at KU In Srinagar

Srinagar : To encourage youth engagement in various democratic processes and policy discussions, the National Service Scheme (NSS), University of Kashmir (KU), organised a two-day Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament -2025 under the initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.
According to a statement issued from Centre for Public Relations University of Kashmir, Srinagar the event, themed ‘One Nation, One Election: Paving the Way for Viksit Bharat,’ aimed to develop critical thinking and leadership skills among young participants.
While presiding over the inaugural session Vice Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan, highlighted the significance of such platforms in shaping responsible and visionary youth.
“Our young minds are full of potential and innovative ideas. Engaging in discussions on national policies will empower them to contribute meaningfully to society and bring laurels to the university,” she said, while wishing the participants success in the competition.
Registrar KU, Prof. Naseer Iqbal, emphasized the importance of such competitions in personality development.
“The university is committed to providing opportunities where talented youth can express themselves, develop confidence, and prepare for future leadership roles,” he said.
Earlier Program Coordinator NSS KU, Dr. Wakar Amin Zargar, outlined the objectives of the competition, emphasizing its role in nurturing informed and active citizens. He informed that the district-level competitions were held in Srinagar, Ganderbal, and Budgam, targeting the 18-25 age group, with winners progressing to the next stage.
During the two-day deliberations the participants presented their views before a panel of judges, who evaluated them based on clarity of thought, articulation, and understanding of the topic.
The event witnessed participation from students across various institutions. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Humaira Showkat, Program Officer, NSS KU.
