Srinagar : For Suresh Kumar, a tourist from Gujarat, sitting on the steps of Srinagar’s iconic Badaam Vaer felt nothing short of heavenly. As the beautiful almond blossoms moved in the gentle spring breeze, he found himself lost in the mesmerizing beauty of the season’s first bloom.
Badaam Vaer, nestled in the foothills of Koh-e-Maran in Srinagar, has once again become a hotspot for tourists and locals alike, signaling the arrival of spring with its enchanting floral display.
Reports said that visitors from different parts of the country are flocking to this historic garden, eager to witness the almond trees in full bloom.
“The sight of these blossoms, with their soft pink and white hues, feels magical. It is as if nature is celebrating a festival of colors,” said Kumar, capturing the scene on his phone.
Known as one of the earliest indicators of Kashmir’s changing seasons, Badaam Vaer holds cultural and historical importance. Its revival over the years has made it a must-visit destination, especially during March, when the trees burst into life, creating a beautiful view.
Similarly, local vendors and photographers are making the most of the tourist influx, adding to the beautiful atmosphere of the garden. “This is the best time of the year for us,” said Mohammad Ashraf, a local photographer. He said people want to take home memories of this paradise.
It is pertinent to mention that Badaam Vaer, believed by some historians to have existed even before Sultan Zain-ul-Abidin’s 15th-century rule, was once a royal retreat, renowned for its almond orchards and serene ambiance. Over the years, it fell into neglect before being revived as a public garden, restoring its lost glory. Today, it stands as a testament to Kashmir’s rich heritage, drawing visitors not just for its beauty but also for its historical essence
