DEO Srinagar holds interaction session with reps of Political parties

Srinagar: In order to further strengthen electoral processes in District within legal framework, the District Election Officer (DEO) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat on Wednesday convened a meeting with the District representatives of different Political Parties at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex, here.
At the outset, the DEO sought cooperation from all the Political Parties in further improvising the electoral process and emphasized the importance of maximizing the registration of newly eligible electors in the electoral roll in the District. He underlined the significance of Electoral literacy for encouraging new voters to be part of democratic setup,
The DEO urged the representatives of Political Parties to provide feedback to concerned Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) for further strengthening the existing electoral processes and to make elections in future more inclusive and participatory.
He highlighted various initiatives being taken by the Election Commission of India to ease baseline activities for better electoral process and elections in future. The representatives were also informed that registered electorates can very easily verify and apply for inclusion of their name in electoral rolls and can lodge their claim for any changes/ corrections in their electoral records through online mode as well.
On the occasion, the representatives of the political parties across the party lines raised various issues and gave suggestions for the betterment of the electoral process.
The DEO under the existing legal framework addressed the concerns raised by the representatives of political parties and assured them that election machinery is always open to incorporate any valuable suggestions and address issues for the improvement of electoral process.
He assured the participants that such interactions will continue to be held in future as well in order to make our democratic process stronger and more inclusive. He further emphasized that the suggestions and issues raised by the political parties will be deliberated upon and would be considered for the advancement of democratic process of elections and electoral participation.
Apart from sharing experiences and viewpoints, the representatives of political parties appreciated the District Election machinery for conducting the recent Lok Sabha and Assembly Elections 2024 in a free, fair, transparent and peaceful manner.
Besides, representative of different Political Parties, the meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ERO- Hazratbal), Syed Ahmad Kataria, Deputy District Election Officer, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, Other ERO, Khanyar, ERO, Lal Chowk, AEROs and other Officials of District Election Authority Srinagar.
