Srinagar: The security forces recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on Bandipora-Srinagar highway in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday.
An official said that the IED was found near Sunset Point along the highway during a routine patrol by the Army.
After recovering the IED, the security personnel secured the area and carried out controlled disposal of the device, he said.
In a statement, the Army said that Chinar Warriors, in a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir Police, recovered and destroyed the IED on the Bandipora-Srinagar Road near Aragam. The statement further said that the device was safely neutralised.
This was the fourth IED-related incident in Kashmir in the last three days. On Tuesday, security forces recovered an IED in the Habdipora area of Shopian district. A day earlier, another device was located in the Reshipora Qaimoh area of Kulgam.
A senior security official from the security establishment stated that the security grid remains on high alert, with intensified operations underway to prevent any further incidents in the Valley.
All highways and roads are being thoroughly inspected before any movement, while additional deployments have been made at key checkpoints and sensitive areas to ensure heightened surveillance and security, he said
