Mission YUVA: Two-day training prog for SBDUs, one-day for BHDs commences in Srinagar

Srinagar: A two-day training program for Small Business Development Units (SBDUs) and a one-day training session for Business Help Desks (BHDs) were successfully launched on Tuesday at the Women Polytechnic College Bemina, Srinagar.
The event was organized by the Labour and Employment Department with the goal of empowering district officers in implementing the Mission YUVA initiative across J&K.
A total of more than 200 officers from various districts are attending this training program over a three days period in which 92 officers attended the training on Tuesday, focusing on enhancing their ability to support entrepreneurship and self-employment, particularly among differently-abled and women in the region.
The training provided a comprehensive overview of Mission YUVA and its implementation across districts starting next financial year.
Shahzad Alam, Mission Director YUVA cum Director Employment, addressed the participants, highlighting the significance of entrepreneurship in driving economic growth and creating sustainable employment opportunities.
He said, “The goal of Mission YUVA is to equip young entrepreneurs, especially women, with the tools they need to thrive and contribute to the state’s economic development.”
Meanwhile, the first day of the training sessions covered critical areas, including an overview of Mission YUVA by the Mission Director, emphasizing its importance for youth empowerment and job creation, besides an overall broader contour of the Mission YUVA scheme by OSD, Mission Youth.
Detailed discussions were also held on Institutional Business Support Mechanisms to strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem, using the Baseline Survey to design data-driven policies at the district level, helping officers understand the existing landscape of businesses and potential entrepreneurs. Operational guidelines for key schemes aimed at supporting Nano entrepreneurs and collectives, New MSMEs, Existing micro enterprises and startups also.
The second day session will cover how to avail benefits through the Mission YUVA App designed to simplify the process of accessing government support for entrepreneurs. The role of the credit ecosystem in enabling SBDUs to provide essential financial support to micro and small businesses and preparation of detailed project report for the potential entrepreneurs.
The attendees expressed their gratitude for the in-depth training and the practical tools it provided to facilitate the successful rollout of Mission YUVA in their respective districts. “This training program is invaluable in equipping us with the necessary skills and confidence to support aspiring entrepreneurs in our districts,” said the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla.
The Labour and Employment Department plans to continue organizing such programs to build the capacity of district officers and further the mission of entrepreneurship and self-employment across Jammu and Kashmir.
The training ended with the keynote address by Secretary Labour and Employment department, Rajeev Ranjan. He emphasized on the role of SBDUs and motivated SBDUs to have a positive approach to deliver for the maximum result in Mission YUVA.
