In 2 years, JKPSC, JKSSB filled over 11,500 vacancies

Srinagar: The J&K Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) have filled 11,526 vacancies in two years.
In response to a query of MLA Bashir Ahmad Veeri, the Government informed the Legislative Assembly’s that the JKPSC filled 2,175 posts in 2023 and 2024.
The selections included 1,291 candidates from the Open Merit (OM) category, 162 from Scheduled Castes (SC), 180 from Scheduled Tribes (ST), 220 from the Residents of Backward Areas (RBA), 60 from ALC/IB, 56 from SLC, 66 from PSP, 116 from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and 24 from Persons with Disabilities (PHC). In 2023, JKPSC selected 1,141 candidates, while 1,034 recruitments were made in 2024.
Meanwhile, the commission advertised 3,296 vacancies over the two years, with 2,185 posts announced in 2023 and 1,111 in 2024. These posts covered multiple categories, ensuring opportunities for candidates from diverse backgrounds. The Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) made a significantly higher number of recruitments, filling 9,351 vacancies between 2023 and 2024. The selections included 4,773 from the OM category, 895 from SC, 823 from ST, 281 from OSC, 343 from RBA, 1,161 from PSP, 764 from EWS, and 311 from ALC/IB. In 2023, JKSSB appointed 3,695 candidates, whereas 5,656 candidates were recruited in 2024, indicating an increase in hiring. The board also advertised a total of 5,000+ posts during the two years, with 329 vacancies announced in 2023 and 4,671 in 2024. The data suggests a rise in recruitment activity in 2024, particularly by JKSSB, which nearly doubled its selections compared to the previous year. However, despite thousands of vacancies being advertised, a significant number remain unfilled, raising concerns about administrative or procedural delays
