Over 3000 athletes participate Jammu Marathon 2025 organised by J&K Police

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Police successfully on Sunday organized “Jammu Marathon 2025” ‘Run for Fun’, a prominent event under its Civic Action Programme (CAP) at Gulshan Ground in Jammu .
With more than 3000 athletes from across various states and regions participating, the marathon saw an overwhelming turnout from individuals of all ages, including schoolchildren, veterans, and fitness enthusiasts.
⁠The marathon covered a variety of distances across nine categories, catering to diverse participants. The event included routes ranging from a 21-km run from Gulshan Ground to Hill View Honda near Bajalta Crossing, to shorter runs of 10 km, 5 km, 4 km, and 2 km designed for different age groups and levels of competition. ⁠Categories and Results:-
– 21 km Half Marathon (Men):-
1st: Manjit Singh (Ferozpur, Punjab)
2nd: Gurcharan Singh (R.S. Pora, Jammu)
3rd: Ravi Das (Ram Nagar, Udhampur)
– 10 km Road Race (Women, 18+):-
1st: Savita Paul (UP)
2nd: Veerpal Kour (Punjab)
3rd: Shamshada Bano (Balicharana, Jammu)
– 10 km Road Race (Boys, Under 18):
1st: Parveen Kumar (Chenani, Udhampur)
2nd: Vibhum Panday (Sainik School, Nagrota)
3rd: Ankit Kumar (Ludhiana, Punjab)
– 10 km Junior Road Race (Girls, Under 18):-
1st: Sulekha
2nd: Mehak Nishad
3rd: Sania Choudhary
– 10 km Veterans Race (Women, 45+):-
1st: Manminder Kour (Trikuta Nagar, Jammu)
2nd: Tina Sahi (Jammu)
3rd: Seema Khanyal (Gangyal, Jammu)
– 10 km Veterans Race (Men, 45+):-
1st: Joga Singh (Ludhiana, Punjab)
2nd: Ram Raj (Pathyal, Jammu)
3rd: Parshotam Lal (Lakshmi Nagar, Mutti, Jammu)
– 5 km Sub Junior Race (Boys, Under 14):-
1st: Mohd Fareed (Rajouri)
2nd: Ummar Shoukat (Nagrota, Jammu)
3rd: Rahik Manhas (Katra, Reasi)
– 4 km Sub Junior Race (Girls, Under 14):-
1st: Komal (Gujjar Nagar, Jammu)
2nd: Eleena Singh (Old Janipur, Jammu)
3rd: Shabu Devi (Katra, Reasi)
– 2 km Run for Fun (Open for All, Senior Citizens, Men, Women, & Children):-
Youngest Female: Nanshika Rajput (5 years old)
Youngest Male: Priyansh Singh Saini (4 years old)
Oldest Female: Amrit Kour (63 years old)
Oldest Male: Angrez Singh (72 years old)
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by prominent officials, including M.K. Sinha, Additional Director General of Police, Headquarters/Coordination PHQ, J&K, who was the chief guest at the event. Along with the Chief Guest, senior police officers and retired officials distributed medals, certificates, and cash prizes worth Rs. 1,84,000 among the winners across various categories. Sinha, during his address, expressed his appreciation for the massive participation of athletes from across Jammu and Kashmir, as well as from other states. He emphasized that such events are crucial in fostering community engagement and in keeping the youth away from harmful activities like drugs. He stressed the importance of continued sports initiatives in the future.
⁠Earlier, Anand Jain, the ADGP Armed, in his speech, highlighted the long-standing commitment of J&K Police in serving the community through programs like the Civic Action Programme. He thanked all the officers, sports authorities, and agencies for their role in ensuring the success of the event and emphasized the need to involve more youth in such activities to help them stay engaged in positive pursuits.
⁠ The marathon was flagged off by Anand Jain, ADGP Armed Police J&K, along with other dignitaries, including Ms. Sarah Rizvi, IPS, DIG IRP Jammu, Shiv Kumar, IPS, DIG JSK Range, Rajesh Kumar, IPS, SSP Security Jammu, and Joginder Singh, SSP Jammu, Dalip Kumar,SSP, SO to ADGP Armed along with senior officers from the Jammu-based battalions. The Jammu Marathon-2025 is part of the J&K Police’s ongoing efforts to promote fitness, foster community spirit, and encourage healthy lifestyles among the youth.
