Jammu : A public rally was on Sunday organized near Narsingh Temple, Main Jindrah, in the Nagrota Assembly Constituency, where Anil Sharma, President of the All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) formally declared his candidature for the upcoming by-elections of Nagrota Assembly Constituency.
Addressing enthusiastic gathering of people, Anil Sharma emphasized the need for a political change in the region, stating that the youth of the constituency have out rightly rejected the politics of kiths and kin, nepotism, and favoritism. He lauded the awareness among the younger generation and their resolve to bring about transparency and accountability in governance. Sharma also said that the upcoming by-elections in the Nagrota constituency would be a contest between a local candidate and an outsider. He stressed that the people need a leader and representative from among themselves, someone who does not belong to any elite class. He further asserted that the people h of Nagrota would reject the so-called political affluent and heavyweight candidates, choosing instead a leader who genuinely represents their concerns and aspirations. It is pertinent to mention that, at the insistance of the youth in the constituency, Sharma declared his candidature from Nagrota. Though he is associated with BJP, he made it clear in his address that if his party does not grant him the mandate and instead favors the relative or kin of an affluent individual, he will contest the election as an independent candidate. Sharma also highlighted key issues plaguing the Nagrota Assembly Constituency, particularly in the education and health sectors. He pointed out infrastructural shortcomings, a lack of adequate staff, and the urgent need for quality education and better healthcare facilities. He strongly raised the issue of numerous vacant posts in colleges and schools across the constituency, which have severely impacted the quality of education. He demanded immediate intervention by the authorities to fill these vacancies and ensure that students receive the education they deserve. Furthermore, Sharma criticized the alarming shortage of staff and doctors in government health institutions, which has left the local population struggling for basic medical services. He appealed the administration to take urgent steps to appoint qualified medical professionals and improve healthcare infrastructure to address the pressing concerns of the people.
