Jammu: Police in Jammu on Friday said that Jammu Police, South Zone, has taken stringent action against violators in the South City area under the ongoing operation code-named “Ploughing,” aimed at cracking down on illegal mining activities.
In a statement issued from the District Police Office, Jammu Police said the operation was launched by SP South on the directions of SSP Jammu. “Police Post Chatha seized two dumpers and two tractors involved in illegal mining as vehicles were intercepted and seized as part of the ongoing crackdown on unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals”, reads the Police Statement. Police in its statement further said that this operation was executed by IC PP Chatha Police Sub Inspector Karnail Singh under the supervision of SDPO South.
Stating that in another similar major action, Police Post Phallian Mandal seized two vehicles loaded with Kahir wood, bearing registration ns JK02AN2526 and JK02CU2158, Police in its statement further said that the vehicles were seized, and the matter has been reported to the Forest Department for further necessary action, adding therein that execution was done by InCarge Police Post Phallianmandal Police Sub Inspector Balbir Singh and SHO Satwari Insp Jaipal Singh.
Stating that Jammu Police remains committed to enforcing laws against illegal mining and forest offenses, ensuring strict action against violators, Police in its statement further said that Operation Ploughing will continue to target unlawful extraction and transportation activities, safeguarding environmental and public resources.
