Haq Khan Criticizes Govt for Denying Helicopter Transport for Deceased in Machil

Srinagar: Senior PDP leader and former Minister Abdul Haq Khan expressed concern over the tragic demise of young Gowhar Ahmad Mir from Dappal Machil and the ordeal his grieving family had to endure is a heartbreaking reflection of the insensitivity of the current administration.
In a statement issued here on Friday Khan said that denying a chopper to transport the body of a deceased young man due to heavy snowfall, forcing his family to carry him on a stretcher for 30 km, is not just negligence but a complete failure of governance and basic human compassion.
An elected government’s primary duty is to serve its people, especially in times of distress. When the administration fails to provide even basic support in humanitarian crises, it raises serious questions about its priorities and functioning. If authorities can arrange helicopters for VIP movement, why was a chopper not provided for a grieving family in dire need? Why was their plea ignored despite extreme weather conditions?
The people of Machal and Kupwara deserve answers. This government must be held accountable for its inaction and lack of empathy. I urge the administration to ensure that such an incident never happens again. Adequate arrangements must be made so that no family is left helpless in such tragic circumstances. Governance must be about serving the people, not abandoning them when they need help the most.
