Jammu University’s Film Club, Riyom Films organize Career Guidance Workshop

Jammu : The Film Club, under the Utsaah Club Consortium, University of Jammu, in collaboration with Riyom Films, hosted Career Guidance Workshop Phase 1 today. The event attracted a large number of students and aspiring professionals eager to explore career opportunities in the entertainment industry.
In her opening remarks, Prof. Suman Jamwal, Coordinator, Film Club, emphasized on the clubs core mission to promote cinematic arts and provide students with meaningful, hands-on exposure to the multifaceted entertainment industry. Prof. Jamwal underscored the vast potential of the industry not only to nurture young talent but also to serve as a dynamic platform for innovation, creativity, and professional growth, aligning with the broader educational goals of the University of Jammu. She highlighted how such initiatives offer practical learning opportunities that empower students to translate their academic knowledge into real-world applications, a vision championed and consistently reinforced by the Vice- Chancellor, University of Jammu.
‘This workshop reflects our commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and the practical skills demanded by the ever-evolving entertainment landscape’, she noted, setting an enthusiastic tone for the event and reaffirming the Film Clubs dedication to nurturing a new generation of industry-ready professionals.
The event was honored by the presence of Prof. Prakash Anthal, Chairperson, Utsaah Club Consortium, as the Chief Guest. In his inspiring address, Prof. Anthal emphasized the critical need to bridge the gap between academia and industry, encouraging students to align their educational pursuits with real-world applications. He passionately urged the attendees to follow their dreams with unwavering dedication and perseverance, motivating them to overcome challenges and make a meaningful impact in their chosen fields.
Sunil Sharma, CEO of Riyom Films and producer of Bollywood movie Shaila, expressed his enthusiasm about the workshops success, stating, ‘We are thrilled to witness such an enthusiastic response from the students. This workshop marks the beginning of our efforts to empower young talent and guide them through the exciting yet challenging landscape of cinema’.
Prof. Suman Jamwal echoed this sentiment, adding, Our collaboration with Riyom Films has opened doors for our students to learn directly from industry professionals. We are excited to build on this momentum with more such initiatives.
The other distinguished guests and experts included Sh. Manik Seth, Film Coordinator and marketing manager of the movie Shaila, Sh. Ravinder Singh, Editor in Riyom Films, Sh. Nikhil Sadotra, who is marketing manager and Sh. Ashh K, Music Director of the movie Shaila’. All these experts gave insights and intricacies of the film-making.
Sunil Sharma, CEO, Riyom Films also showcased their work to inspire the learners which included their latest project. The glimpse of the latest project Shaila, a Bollywood movie, enthralled the participants which made the workshop more vibrant. Sh. Manik Seth, Sh. Ravinder Singh and Sh. Nikhil Sadotra then talked about other aspect pertaining to cinema, editing, marketing, production, Artificial intelligence in cinema and use of VFX etc. which made the workshop more interactive. The importance of content in movies, story writing, pre and post production were other aspects addressed by the experts to give a wholesome picture of the method of film-making.
The workshop offered participants an immersive experience into the dynamic world of cinema and entertainment. Attendees gained invaluable insights into industry trends, practical knowledge, career pathways, and networking opportunities. The event featured interactive sessions and activities designed to equip participants with the tools and inspiration to pursue their dream careers.
The program was conducted by Dr. Anu Mankotia. The workshop culminated with a vote of thanks rendered by Dr. Anju Bala.
