Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has registered first e-FIR in the district, marking a step towards enhanced accessibility and digital policing.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar that on 5th March a complaint was received via email from one Gh Nabi Bhat S/o Haji Assadullah Bhat R/o Baghaat Colony, Bumhama, Kupwara, who alleged therein that while he was not at home, one person [Name Withheld] allegedly set on fir his wooden shed and cow shed, adding therein that fortunately, the fire was extinguished before it could spread further.
Stating that the complainant termed the act a deliberate attempt of the accused to cause damage to his property Police in its statement further said that upon receiving the complaint, the matter was preliminary verified and found true, adding therein that On 6th March the complainant signed the official copy and accordingly lodged FIR No. 60/2025 under relevant sections of law, adding therein that investigation has been initiated to ascertain the facts and take necessary legal action. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that e-FIR marks a major step in digital policing, making the complaint registration process more efficient and accessible for citizens.
