Ganderbal: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, a special team of the Food Safety department conducted a special inspection of Food Business Operators (FBOs) across Dursuma Market.
The team took strict action against violators under Food Safety and Standards norms, and a collective penalty of Rs 4000 under Section 69 were levied on the food business operators for the violations.
The FS team also seized and destroyed a significant quantity of expired spices, rotten vegetables and fruits and other food items to prevent its sale in the market. Besides, three samples were also lifted for laboratory analysis.
Thrusting on quality control, the officers emphasized the importance of hygiene and food safety standards, warning FBOs against selling expired or substandard food products. They urged traders to comply with the regulations to ensure the health and well-being of the consumers.
General public and local consumers appreciated the market checking by Food Safety officials and called for regular monitoring to curb the sale of adulterated and unhygienic food items.
