Srinagar: On the occasion of the re-opening of schools after winter vacations, Director Education Kashmir (DSEK), Dr. G.N. Itoo formally launched a 15-days enrollment drive for all the schools in the valley from the remote hilly area of Gadole Vailoo in Anantnag district.
On the occasion, Director personally reached to the doorsteps of several parents and enrolled children on the spot. The main event in this regard was held at the Government Higher Secondary School, GadoleVailoo in the same area, which was attended by thousands of children, parents, civil society members and teachers.
During the drive, 318 new children were enrolled in various government schools in the area.
Dr. Itoo met student groups of various schools and expressed his best wishes for them.
Speaking at the event, DSEK said that during this 15-day long campaign, every child who is out of school will be reached. He said, “We have to convey this message to every household that in the present era, when our society is facing various challenges, education is very important to face these challenges.”
Dr. Itoo appealed to parents to enlighten all their children with the light of education. He asked the teachers to play their vital role in maintaining a pleasant atmosphere in terms of education and teaching in schools as well as classroo He also asked them to provide moral education to the children and ensure that no negligence is committed in their character building.
Referring to the National Education Policy 2020, DSEK stressed that special care should be taken of the mother tongue while providing basic education. He strongly urged the teachers to become role models and educate children about the harmful effects of drugs so that our society can be free from this menace in future.
Meanwhile, the enrollment drive has simultaneously started in all other schools in the valley from on Saturday.
As per the details the new enrolments had crossed 1200 students in the valley during the 1st day of drive.
