Srinagar: Family members of a 35-year-old vendor from Sopore, Shabir Ahmed Shah on Thursday staged a peaceful protest, seeking his whereabouts, stating that their kin has gone missing in Delhi under mysterious circumstances.
Shabir’s family said that he had travelled to Delhi on December 31 to purchase items for his business, however, lost contact with them on February 16. Since then, there has been no trace of him.
Holding placards and raising slogans, the family expressed their anguish and urged authorities to intensify efforts in tracing him.
Shabir’s wife recalled that they had been in regular touch until February 16. However, after that all communication with him ceased, raising fears of foul play.
She made a heartfelt appeal to the government and police authorities to intervene and ensure his safe return.
The family said that they had already lodged a missing report at Police Station Nabi Karim, Delhi, soon after losing contact with him. Delhi Police confirmed that they have already circulated information about Shabir’s disappearance among the public and are actively working on the case.
Authorities have urged people having any information regarding Shabir Ahmed Shah’s whereabouts to come forward and inform the police at 8750870428 or 8744971797.
Meanwhile, Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Sopore, Irshad Rasool Kar raised the concern in the assembly session, urges J& Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s intervention.
“I have discussed the issue in detail with the CM besides urged him for his intervention to speed up the investigation,” Kar said
