2-Day National Seminar on ‘Integrating Digital Learning &Technology in Teacher Education’ held at GCOE, Srinagar

Srinagar: The Govt. College of Education (IASE), M.A. Road, Srinagar, organised a two-day National Seminar, sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), North Western Regional Centre, P.U. Chandigarh.
The event was organized under the leadership of Principal GCOE Srinagar, Prof (Dr.) Seema Naz.
The seminar, themed ‘Integrating Digital Learning and Technology in Teacher Education,’ attracted a plethora of distinguished intellectuals and luminaries across India, including Prof (Dr.) Renu Nanda from the PG Department of Education, University of Jammu; Dr. Deepak Bishla, Head Department of IT, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University; Prof (Dr.) Khursheed Ahmad Mir, Dean Academics and Controller of Exam Cluster University Srinagar; Dr. Sameer Babu M, Associate Professor in Educational Administration, Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi and Dr. Kajal Kalsi, Assistant Professor Department of Sociology University of Jammu.
A host of faculty members from diverse universities, colleges, and research scholars across the nation attended the seminar both online/offline.
Prof (Dr.) Mohammad Mobin, the Vice-Chancellor of Cluster University Srinagar was the chief guest in the Inaugural session.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, Prof. (Dr.) Mobin asserted that technology possesses the transformative potential to profoundly alter the landscape of teaching and learning. However, he emphasized that this potential can only be actualized through deliberate, thoughtful implementation, sustained professional development for educators, and a comprehensive understanding of how to leverage technology in ways that foster student centered, inclusive, and dynamic learning experiences.
Earlier, the seminar commenced with a welcome address by Prof (Dr.) Seema Naz, Principal of the host institution, wherein she graciously welcomed the distinguished guests and conveyed her profound gratitude to the chief guest, Prof (Dr.) Mohammad Mobin, and other dignitaries for their esteemed presence.
She added that in the Al era, 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving cannot be fully developed without the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). These technologies enable students and educators to create, share, and analyze information in real time, fostering a dynamic and evolving learning environment essential for preparing individuals to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
Dr. Nazir Ahmad Bhat, the seminar coordinator, in his backdrop address reiterated that the integration of digital learning and technology in Teacher Education is no longer an option but a necessity in today’s rapidly evolving educational landscape. Technology has transformed the way educators deliver content, making it more interactive, engaging, and personalized to cater to diverse learning needs.
In his keynote address, Dr. Deepak Bishla underscored the pivotal role that technology plays in reshaping the educational landscape. He emphasized that, as we stand at the nexus of a swiftly advancing technological era, it is incumbent upon education to evolve in tandem, harnessing the immense potential of digital tools to augment learning outcomes and adequately prepare educators for an increasingly digitized world.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof (Dr.) Renu Nanda reiterated that technology is meant to complement educators, making learning more interactive, accessible, and personalized. By leveraging digital tools, teachers can provide students with diverse resources, foster critical thinking, and cater to individual learning needs. She further added that technology acts as an enabler, enriching the educational process while preserving the essential role of teachers in guiding and mentoring students.
Prof. (Dr.) Khursheed Ahmad Mir said that Atmanirbhar Bharat is not possible without leveraging technology in education as it empowers individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in a digitally driven world.
The session featured the release of the seminar smart digest and seminar promo. A glimpse of audio video content in Kashmiri language recorded at 11TE Gujrat by IASE Faculty under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, national initiative was also showcased. The inaugural session was moderated by Prof Lateef Ahmad Shah, Faculty IASE and vote of thanks was presented by Prof Yunis Basit Sofi.
