Jammu, Mar 6, : The Jammu & Kashmir government has clarified that the strength of the council of ministers in the Union Territory should not exceed 10 percent of the total members in the Legislative Assembly.
Responding to a written query from Handwara MLA Sajad Gani Lone, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who also oversees the General Administration Department, stated that the limit is in accordance with the Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation Act-2019.
When asked about the allocation of ministerial portfolios, the government provided details of the departments held by five cabinet ministers. However, it did not specify the departments directly under the Chief Minister’s charge.
“Departments not assigned to any minister are held by the Hon’ble Chief Minister,” the government mentioned in its written response.
