Kishtwar : Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan on Tuesday conducted an extensive tour of Panchayats Mulchhiter, Rahalthal and Dadpeth in Block Mughalmaidan to personally review the progress of MGNREGA and Rural Development Department (RDD) works.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected key infrastructure projects, including soakage pits, tile works, drainage systems, and walking paths being developed under MGNREGA. He also took stock of other significant development initiatives being executed in these panchayats.
During the inspection, the cases of false attendance of MGNREGA were detected. Taking serious note of the same, the DC ordered immediate suspension of the erring employees.
The DC cautioned the staff to be extra vigilant about the genuineness of the attendance, bulk and the quality of works. He said that the employees shall be suspended if found guilty.
Emphasizing timely completion and quality assurance, the DC Kishtwar directed the ACD Kishtwar and the concerned BDO to ensure the physical completion of all projected works within the deadline for financial year 2024-25, adhering to prescribed quality standards. Additionally, he issued necessary instructions to the officials present to expedite and streamline the execution of ongoing projects.
During the visit, the DC also interacted with Job Card holders/MGNREGA beneficiaries, inquiring about their work experiences, wage payments, and any challenges they faced under MGNREGA. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring timely wage disbursement and job opportunities for rural workers. He also encouraged them to actively participate in development activities and assured prompt resolution of their grievances to enhance livelihood opportunities in the region.
The DC was accompanied by ACD Kishtwar Phulail Singh and other officials of the RDD during the visit.
