Srinagar: The parts of Jammu and Kashmir once again received the fresh snowfall on Monday while the rains lashed the plains, bringing down the mercury further.
Reports saidthat higher reaches of north and south Kashmir received fresh snowfall on Monday. Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, however was lashed by the rains intermittently since the morning.
Sadhna Top and Razdan Top have received a snowfall of one feet while Zojila pass and Sonamarg have received a snowfall of 10 inches on Monday, said an Independent Weather Forecaster, Aadil Maqbool.
As per the details, Gulmarg recorded a snowfall of 8 inches while Doodhpatri recorded 7 inches of snow. Peer ki Gali recorded 8 inches of snow while Sinthan top recorded 10 inches of snowfall till Monday, he said, adding that light snow was also reported in some plains of Shopian, Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora.
Director Meteorological department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that the generally dry weather is expected from tomorrow till March 09, adding that a fresh spell of rain and snow is expected from March 10 to 12.
Moreover, the MeT has issued an advisory, predicting a possibility of landslides, rockfall, shooting stones and mudslides over vulnerable places.
It advised the tourists, travellers and transporters to follow administration and traffic advisory and asked farmers to suspend irrigation & other farm operations till 4th March. Avoid sloppy & avalanche prone areas, it reads
