Srinagar: The Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar is deeply saddened over the untimely demise of Kajal Devi, daughter of Behari Lal, a resident of Shaleen Kasti, Garh Doda who was a first-phase MBBS student from the Batch of 2024.
Kajal was known for her hard work, kindness, and commitment to the medical profession.
Her sudden passing away has left her family, friends, and the entire medical fraternity in profound grief and shock. The loss of such a promising student is an irreparable tragedy for all who knew her.
To honor her memory, a condolence meeting was held at GMC Srinagar, auditorium where Prof. (Dr.) Showkat Ahmad Kadla, expressed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family. He described Kajal as a bright, hardworking student with a promising future in medicine.
Principal/ Dean Prof Dr. Iffat Hassan also expressed deep shock and sorrow on the passing of Kajal Devi .
“This is an eternal loss that is truly unbearable. The passing of such a young and talented student is a tragedy that deeply affects us all,” she added.
The condolence gathering was also attended by Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, Administrator, GMC Srinagar & Associated Hospitals; Prof. (Dr.) Saleem Itoo, Registrar Academics, GMC Srinagar; Heads of Departments (HoDs), All Medical Superintendents of Associated Hospitals, Faculty members, staff, and students.
As a mark of respect, a two-minute silence was observed in memory of Kajal Devi.
The faculty, staff, and students of GMC Srinagar deeply mourn Kajal’s passing. Her dedication and compassion in the field of medicine made her a respected and beloved member of the institution.
The GMC Srinagar stands in solidarity with Kajal Devi’s family during this difficult time. The institution has extended its full support and condolences to her loved ones.
